External Communication Management: Arbitral Award and Cartagena Refinery Modernization Project (Cartagena Refinery | Ecopetrol Group)

I led the institutional communication strategy for the Cartagena Refinery during one of the most complex processes in its history: the international arbitration against CB&I/McDermott before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), which resulted in a favorable award of US$1 billion.

I constructed and managed the institutional narrative that repositioned Reficar—moving it away from past scandals and framing it as a vindicated national strategic asset. To achieve this, I coordinated the media presence of President Herman Galán, securing coverage in Forbes Colombia and Bloomberg Línea, two of the most influential financial outlets in Latin America.

This strategy helped protect the reputation of Colombia’s second-largest company during an international legal process and positioned the Modernization Project as a milestone in the Colombian energy transition.

Internal Communication for Cartagena Refinery (Cartagena Refinery | Ecopetrol Group)

I directed the internal communication channels at the Cartagena Refinery, articulating the strategic narrative for one of Colombia’s most significant energy modernization projects. The internal newsletter served as the primary vehicle for organizational communication during the industrial and energy transition of the most complex refinery in the Colombian Caribbean.

Inauguration of the Solar Ecopark at Cartagena Refinery (Cartagena Refinery | Ecopetrol Group)

I directed this audiovisual project, which compiles footage and interviews with workers and contractors from the Cartagena Refinery (Ecopetrol Group) during the launch of the Solar Ecopark. This facility provides clean energy to the most important strategic asset in the Colombian Caribbean.

Mining

“Hablemos con Propiedad sobre Minería” Forum (Prodeco Group — Glencore Colombia)

From its conception, I led the strategic design and execution of the annual forum “Hablemos con Propiedad sobre Minería” (Let’s Talk Accurately About Mining). This initiative brought together approximately 200 participants per edition, including journalists, opinion leaders, decision-makers, and organizations from the mining and energy sector in the Department of Cesar.

The forum was designed as a platform for building a public narrative around responsible mining, aiming to elevate the quality of journalistic and civic debate in a region where the extractive industry is a fundamental economic pillar.

This work transcended corporate functions to become a mechanism of communication governance between industry, media, and regional civil society, directly impacting the quality of public debate on mining in Colombia.
